Cocktails in Sydney – bulletin place

If I lived in Sydney I wouldn’t tell anyone about this place for fear that it would become too popular and there would be no room for me – capacity is restricted to just 50 people. They have a tiny selection of snacks – liver pate, hommus, roasted almonds – and an endless selection of cocktails. There is certainly a list of specials to pick from if you so desire, but ask for anything you desire, and the boys will mix it for you straight up, or offer suggestions for alternatives. For instance I asked for a Plum Pisco Sour, but since plums aren’t in season, it was suggested I go with a Cherry Pisco Sour instead which I did. They even brought out another little glass of the cherry pisco by itself for me to try. My friend went with a mint julep, and my husband with his favourite, an Old Fashioned, a drink he stuck with all night. My second drink was a whiskey sour (also delicious), and I can’t for the life of me remember what my friend had next. I finished the night off with a special – Ketel One vodka, elderflower, lime and cucumber juice, served in a darling vintage bottle. I have never tasted anything like it, but I hope I can find a place here in Brissie that can pull off something similar.
With its faintly hipster-ish vibe, unpretentiousness and knowledgable bar staff this place is not to be missed! Pack a bit of extra dough though, this place ain’t cheap, but worth the money.
Bulletin Place is located at Level 1, 10-14 Bulletin Place, Sydney – about a 5 minute walk from Circular Quay.
